Free Little Libraries
We recently did a pass at thinning out our bookshelves. This is not something that happens too often for us, I'm of the opinion that reading books and collecting books are two separate hobbies. That said, there are times when you have to be honest that you'll never actually make time to read this book or that one. There are also times when someone gifts you a box of books and you just can't use all of them. I did take a few boxes over to Powell's to see what they wanted first - mostly to fund my book collecting hobby.
From there, we figured we'd act in a cooperative model and distribute them to others that may need them. The Free Little Library system is a great way to act on this as they offer a map of local boxes; so we loaded up the back of the car at 7:30PM last evening, along with a flashlight and navigated our neighborhood.

Dawn and I had a great time doing this - knowing someone else would get use from the books. We definitely plan to do this in the future and I recommend it to anyone looking to share their books with your community.
